Title : Indigestion and What to Do About It (Dr. Morton Walker Health Book S)
Author : James F. Balch
Rating : 1 Stars out of 5.
Summary : The book is about alternative medicine rather than heartburn
This book is not about heartburn. The first part of the book is about all manner of digestive problems, and then even about disorders purportedly related to digestive disorders. The second part of the book suggests that good diet (especially yogurt), enemas, and something called probiotics will cure all diseases, and therefore incidentally also heartburn (which thus has served only as a marketing come-on to lure in buyers). I believe there is much to be learned from alternative medicine, but this book actually offers very little rigorous (supported) information. For entertainment, and in closing, let me quote a tidbit. "Make the coffee enema by boiling six heaping tablespoons of ground coffee (not instant) in two quarts of water for fifteen minutes, cooling to a comfortable temperature, and straining..." It is probably a very good idea to let that boiling coffee cool a little before the anal consumption, but why is instant coffee not good, and how does this fix heartburn?
People can change their diets to actually eliminate or reduce the effects of Acid Reflux. A proper routine can be made to reduce the problem which generally causes due to the irregular habits of eating or eating more junk food and also from excessive drinking. These bad habits cause a rise in the stomach acids, which in turn adds more pressure on the muscle that is trying to stop the stomach acid from escaping.
The thing about surgery for acid reflux and indigestion is that the recovery can be difficult and the results are not always consistent. Many people will feel complete relief and others won’t. In addition, it is often possible for the problem to reoccur, even after surgery and more surgery may be necessary.

Summary : Great book!
This is an excellent book for people who are interested in digestive disorders. It offers practical advice in how to cure them in simple non-technical language. A great book for student nutritionists such as myself.
Keep a food diary to track everything you eat and drink if you suffer from acid reflux as diet plays a part in generating stomach acid, and if the acid levels are managed and kept low then you are less likely to experience the reflux.
Gastroesophageal reflux disease is a disorder that results from stomach acid moving backward from the stomach into the esophagus. The esophagus is the muscular tube that connects the mouth to the stomach by the way.

Title : Stop the Heartburn: What You Can Do to Reduce Your Symptoms of One of Americas Most Common Health Problems
Author : David Utley
Rating : 5 Stars out of 5.
Summary : Everything you ever wanted to know about your heartburn
I began searching for educational materials on heartburn after I had lived with it for several years and had poured all kinds of antiacids into my stomach. This book is very informative, explaining the causes, treatments, and even the long-range effects of continuing heartburn. It educated me to where I was able to discuss my condition knowledgeably with my physician and had no "fear of the unknown" when it came time to begin treatment.
